Rehearsals for Red are underway for the cast of Ulysses Dancers. The contemporary dance company has been preparing for their upcoming season; Red for the last few months. "Working with a cast of 48 contemporary dancers is an incredibly rewarding, exciting and challenging journey," commented Jane Pirani, Artistic Director of Ulysses Dancers. "As we celebrate 10 years of Ulysses Dancers, we wanted to mark the occasion with something special. We have elected to produce one great show as a collaborative effort between myself, and fellow choreographers Shaughn Pegoraro and Cassie Steen" she added. "Ulysses Dancers was established to further develop contemporary dance in the region and by mentoring up and coming choreographers, we can further develop both the skills of the dancers and the skills of the choreographers" said Andre Reynaud, Director and Manager for Ulysses Dancers.
"The show is called Red. It has a theme of red and all things red, drawing on inspiration from a variety of mediums. Whilst building the performance, we have asked ourselves and others what red means to them. For some it has been passion, for some anger, and for some memories of childhood stories. The show is an eclectic mix of inspirational reds, with some comedy and of course a fantastic journey in music," commented Roxanne Grey, Marketing Consultant to Ulysses Dancers. Red opens at Riverway Arts Centre on the 22nd June 2017 and runs through until the 24th June 2017. Tickets are available from Ticketshop starting at $16 for students.
